Kristin Hibbard, a moderate and severe disabilities educator at Meade County High School, was honored as the Council for Exceptional Children’s 2024 Kentucky Special Education Teacher of the Year. The naming took place during the Kentucky Exceptional Children’s Conference at the Galt House in Louisville on Nov. 25.
Three Kentucky teachers have been named finalists for the 2021 Special Education Teacher of the Year award. Sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE’s) Office of Special Education and Early Learning and the Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children (KYCEC), the award is a way to recognize and honor an outstanding teacher in the field of special education.
Savannah Boone is the 2020 Special Education Teacher of the Year, while Jessica Tipton and Amber Ervin the two finalists for the award. They will receive cash prizes and other recognition, and Boone will get a scholarship to attend the national Special Education Legislative Summit in summer 2021.
