The Fayette County Public Schools Seal of Biliteracy recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate functional language skills in English and another language. Honorees awarded this distinction during the 2019-2020 academic year include 102 graduates earning distinction in French, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Lingala, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili and Swedish.
Two students from Bryan Station High School (Fayette County) earned recognition for their Spanish skills during the 2020 National Beta Club Convention. James Grant placed ninth in the sophomore division and Victoria Lowe finished eighth in the junior division.
Since the Kentucky Department of Education’s Principal Advisory Council last convened on April 22, the department has released several guidance documents – including the flagship Healthy at School document that was released in conjunction with the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
