The Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE’s) Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council met on Oct. 18, where members discussed the Kentucky Board of Education’s 2024 legislative priorities with Meredith Brewer, KDE’s executive director of education policy.
On March 20, the College Board released an update on how the Advanced Placement (AP) program is supporting this year’s AP exam administration. Within this email, College Board called out a few bullets that are within the AP Central update page that you can find College Board website.
For the second straight year, KDE will cover the cost of Advanced Placement exams for students eligible for free and reduced-price meals that would otherwise be paid by districts.
In an effort to increase students’ opportunity to take Advanced Placement exams, the Kentucky Department of Education will underwrite the cost of the tests in the 2016-17 school year for students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.

Kentucky students who enroll in Advanced Placement courses in high school are better prepared for college, need little or no remediation and perform better in their postsecondary studies than students who do not take AP classes, according to data released today.
