The Kentucky Department of Education has launched a new webpage on its website designed to provide 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) education-related updates and information educators, staff and families.

KDE highlights USDA meals for children during COVID-19 school closure

During school building closures due to COVID-19, the Summer Food Service Program and the Seamless Summer Option – which are administered by the Kentucky Department of Education – will provide meals at no cost to children 18 and under. This allows children who may face food insecurity to continue receiving meals while schools are not holding in-person classes.

Waiver suspends requirements for civics test, early graduation exams

Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, secretary of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet issued a waiver April 3 in response to the COVID-19 emergency that suspends the requirement that students who plan to graduate from high school in 2020 pass a civics test, as well as certain requirements for completing an early high school graduation program.
