KRS.158.6453 calls for the review and revision of the Kentucky Academic Standards every six years. This year, the Kentucky Academic Standards for Career Studies will be reviewed and revised based upon the processes outlined in KRS 158.6453.

The Kentucky Department of Education is seeking teachers of all grade levels and postsecondary educators to apply to participate in this work. Applicants will be required to meet in Frankfort two-to-four days during the 2024-2025 school year.

Selected team members will receive reimbursement for travel expenses. Substitute teacher expenses will be reimbursed to the teacher’s school district. Potential applicants are asked to verify the willingness of their school or district to release them for work dates throughout the school year.

Applications are also being accepted for the Financial Literacy Standards Review Committee and Advisory Panels.

According to KRS 158.1411, beginning with the entering 9th-grade class of the 2020-2021 school year and each year thereafter, successful completion of one or more courses or programs that meet the financial literacy standards shall be a Kentucky public high school graduation requirement.

This year, the financial literacy standards will be reviewed and revised based upon the processes outlined in KRS 158.6453.

The Career Studies online application will be accepted through Oct. 3 and the Financial Literacy online application will be accepted through Oct. 4. Selected team members will be notified shortly after that.
