The mission of the Cumberland County School District is “Success: Every Student, Every Day!” This mission is the driving force in building a strong foundation for all students in order to assist them in becoming well-prepared for their future educational and career options. It is our goal to support students, teachers, staff and parents by promoting a safe, learning-centered culture focused on maintaining high-quality curriculum, instruction and assessment in order to continually improve and advance academic achievement.

The district works diligently to achieve the highest quality education for students by promoting research-based instructional strategies designed to promote active engagement, hands-on learning, real-world connections and higher-order thinking. These strategies prepare students with the critical thinking skills required to compete in and contribute to an ever-changing global economy.

Cumberland County also values the integration of educational technology as evidenced by a 1:1 Chromebook initiative for all middle school, 3rd-grade and 5th-grade students.

With a Proficient high school and an elementary school ranked in the top 10 percent for academic growth, the district plans to continue making gains toward proficiency and beyond. Cumberland County’s vision to help sustain this trend is to help every child become college- and career-ready.

Cumberland County also continues to engage many community stakeholders. These partnerships make the district a place where rigorous academic programs and increased student achievement are possible for all students.

The district firmly believes that every student must have the academic and leadership skills necessary to graduate high school in order to be prepared for their future. As a result, Cumberland County makes every opportunity available to students to help them develop the skills necessary to follow whatever pathway they choose. To achieve that goal, the only acceptable approach can be a continued focus on high expectations for all stakeholders – every child, every day!
