The East Bernstadt Independent school district has a long history of success and pride, and its culture proves that staff members have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of the students. The district’s slogan, “It’s About the Future of Kids” is very appropriate and serves as the driving force.
Based on 2014 state accountability, East Bernstadt is a Proficient district and East Bernstadt Elementary School is a Distinguished school. All stakeholders have worked together to build a strong future for the students. The district also values the commitment of the community working with the school district to meet every child’s need. East Bernstadt is a student-centered district where the goal is that each child will learn, grow and develop every day. The district’s desire is to provide academic excellence in a supportive, safe climate and to deliver the very best instructional program possible.
The district understands that learning is enhanced when parents are involved. Family reading nights and summer reading programs help promote family involvement in the educational process. The school involves parents throughout the year with opportunities to visit and learn about the school programs.
The district’s goal is to ensure every child is progressing toward graduating college- and career-ready. As the new Kentucky Core Academic Standards are implemented, East Bernstadt has focused on staff development and adjusting curriculum documents to provide a quality education to the students. Through new partnerships such as AmeriCorps and the Gear Up grant with Berea College, students are provided invaluable learning opportunities to support their future goals.
In addition, the district has worked to secure additional technology resources to promote differentiated instruction. Every classroom has two computer labs and additional computers along with SMART boards. The new student response systems allow instant feedback to the learner as they interact with the teacher.
The East Bernstadt Independent team continues to strive toward excellence. The district is very proud of its accomplishments and will continuously set goals for improvement.
