In the Elizabethtown Independent school district, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are emerging as important vehicles in delivering educational programs to help students meet the demands of the 21st century.
By partnering with industries such as Metalsa, Dow Corning, Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas and Electric, nearly 400 students are afforded the opportunity to participate in Project Lead the Way. Morningside Elementary was selected as one of 44 schools in the United States invited to pilot the newest science, technology, engineering and mathematics program for students in grades K-5.
The elementary STEM program was designed and developed by Project Lead the Way as well. By offering this new elementary STEM program to its students, Morningside Elementary is expanding its educational offerings for its students and helps Elizabeth Independent Schools (EIS) become a leader in both the state and nation in STEM education.
