Sara Beth Boggs has seen and experienced much of what this world has to offer, not only as a traveler but as a teacher as well.
As a child of a U.S. Air Force family and as a U.S. Army wife, Boggs has lived in six different states and the Aviano Air Force Base in Italy. She spent 22 years teaching English in classrooms across the country.
Today, she teaches English and serves as an instructional coach at Frankfort High School (Frankfort Independent), where she has been for seven years.
“I experience the benefit of wearing multiple hats, meaning the majority of my schedule is directly teaching students in my classroom, with an opportunity each day to spend a period coaching our teachers,” she said. “This unique position allows me to try instructional strategies in my own room to see first-hand their successes and flops.”
Boggs’ goal as a teacher is to create an environment where students learn to love thinking and exploring for themselves.
“I believe that all students can learn, and students should create work for authentic audiences,” she said.
At Frankfort High School, Boggs has served as PEP club sponsor, 9th- and 10th-grade class sponsors and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle coach. She holds seats on the district Instructional Team, Intervention Team and the University of Kentucky Next Gen Profile of a Graduate Advisory Council. She leads as a department chair and represents her high school on a Superintendent Search Committee.
Boggs also was named a 2024 Kentucky Teacher Achievement Award Winner. Her leadership experiences have allowed her to grasp the concept of being a lifelong learner.
“It’s exciting for me to not only lead, but also collaborate with and learn from my colleagues,” she said. “I’ll never stop learning and growing.”
Boggs received her bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education from Ohio Northern University and a master’s of education as a teacher leader with a literacy specialist endorsement from Georgetown College.
Outside of school, she enjoys life as a worship team leader and mother to three daughters.
