The Kentucky Historical Society HistoryMobile is being scheduled for spring visits at Kentucky schools. The full-size trailer contains the interactive exhibit, “Torn Within and Threatened Without: Kentuckians in the Civil War Era.”

The exhibit uses touch-screen activities, bold illustrations, authentic artifacts, personal recollections and other components to allow students to meet eight Kentuckians who faced difficult choices during the Civil War era, learn what they did and put themselves in their shoes. The experience is designed to improve student learning and critical thinking skills; the student activities are tied to Kentucky core English/language arts standards.

The exhibit is geared to 4th-, 5th- and 8th-grade students studying Kentucky and U.S. history, but is appropriate for grades 4-12.
