The Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC) will hold a water quality and conservation workshop Sept. 13 at the Gladie Visitor Center at Red River Gorge near Pine Ridge.

The workshop is open to teachers from all disciplines, who will learn how to teach lessons focusing on water quality and water conservation in all grade levels. Educators will view demonstrations, conduct hands-on activities and connect with people who can supplement their classroom experience. The workshop will include a hike and macroinvertebrate sampling in a nearby creek.

KEEC has grant money to distribute to teachers across the state in order for them to conduct water projects within their schools. Teachers who are unable to attend the workshop still may apply for the grant.

The workshop is free; space is limited. The registration deadline is Sept. 11. Reimbursement for substitute teachers is available. Visit the Kentucky Green and Healthy Schools website for a registration form or email kghs@ky.gov for more information.
