Commemorate Veterans Day with the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Military History Museum!

The “Host a Vet” program, tailored for students in grades 4-12, offers a unique virtual experience where students can interact with a panel of veterans. These veterans will share their personal stories and answer questions submitted by the students, providing a meaningful way to honor their service and learn from their experiences.

Educators will receive comprehensive pre- and post-lesson plans that align with various interdisciplinary Kentucky Academic Standards, ensuring a rich educational experience for all participants.

For children in grades K-3, the Kentucky Historical Society will host a “Host a Vet Jr.” program. Together, students will learn about the American flag, what the colors mean, and how to care for the flag. While students design their own flags, a veteran will talk about what Veteran’s Day means to them and help us fold our “flags” together!

Participation for both events is free, but registration is required and closes Friday, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m. ET. The events will be on Zoom. Visit the “Host a Vet” registration webpage or the “Host a Vet Jr.” registration webpage for more information. Educators can submit students’ questions for our participating veterans to the Kentucky Historical Society Education team by Monday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. ET.
