The Speech Professional Education Alliance of Kentucky (SPEAK), made up of six groups around the Commonwealth, gets together each year to co-host a day of training, seminars, roundtable discussions and classes for speech and debate teachers and coaches.

The 2024 conference will be held at the University of Kentucky on Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET. Participants can receive six hours of professional development training.

James Weaver, national director of performing arts and sports at the National Federation of State High School Associations, will give the keynote address and serve as the lead teacher for the conference sessions.

If you’re new to speech and debate, a NewSPEAK event will be held the night before, which includes three hours of professional development for new teachers and coaches.

Full info is available on the SPEAK website. The deadline to register is Sept. 9.
