The Item Writers Algebra Readiness competition, a user-friendly tool that will allow teachers to collaborate and engage in competition as they help their students succeed in algebra, is now available online.

The resource, the first in a series that will focus on innovative, open-source item development for formative use, is designed to help educators find and share items that are aligned with state standards and that can be used to assess students’ understanding of concepts.

In the competition, educators around the country can not only provide feedback, advice and expertise to one another, but also get feedback from a wide range of experts in the field as they compete for cash prizes.

Winning task sets will be ultimately be available to all educators as open education resources.

The registration deadline is May 17. Once registered, teachers can connect with other item writers and access the discussion forums. Click here for more information or to register.
