The application deadline for the Kentucky Historical Society’s (KHS) 2015 Summer Teacher Workshop, “Torn Within, Threatened Without: Kentucky and the Border States in the Civil War,” has been extended.

The workshop, which will be offered June 21-27 in Frankfort, is being held in cooperation with historic sites and museums in Kentucky that will be visited during the week. Sessions on and off the KHS campus will be conducted by leading scholars in the field who are experienced in working with educators.

Teachers selected to participate as KHS Summer Scholars will receive a $1,100 stipend at the end of the workshop if all weeklong sessions and activities are completed. Participants will also receive a professional development certificate for hours completed, lunch on travel days and educational materials.

Applications must include a resume or short biography, an application essay and a letter of recommendation and must be postmarked by March 25. The deadline was extended due to extreme winter weather.
