Social studies field trip opportunity

Fort Boonesborough will have a special school day this season on Sept. 20,  preceding the weekend reenactment of the 1778 Siege of Boonesborough. Walton Verona teacher named Financial Literacy Teacher of the Year

David Sandlin, a teacher at Walton Verona (Independent) High School, recently was named the 2013 Financial Literacy Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Sandlin teaches entrepreneurship, economics, financial literacy and Web design. His award included a $250 grand prize that can be used for financial literacy classroom materials or training. KTC poster contest

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently announced the beginning of the annual Adopt-a-Highway Poster Contest, which emphasizes and promotes the importance of removing litter from Kentucky roadways.
