The Norton Center for the Arts has announced its 2011-12 Student Matinee Series. The series provides educators and students with opportunities to see musical, dance and dramatic performances. This year’s schedule includes performances by Japanese drummers, a Brazilian musical trio and a radio-play of the Lincoln-Douglas slavery debate and much more.
The series includes educational resources and curriculum connections.

First activity is a performance/talk with 24 year old violin virtuoso Hahn-Bin who is taking the world by storm for his inventive performances. The 1pm matinee is on September 29 at Centre College’s Norton Center in Danville, KY.
Quickly following is ¡Viva Brazil! The Luciana Souza Trio in concert. The Trio performs traditional Brazilian music as well as Brazilian pop tunes and jazz. These award winning musicians have worked with Yo Yo Ma, Sting, Snoop Dogg, James Taylor, Paul Simon and many others. A taste of Brazilian culture at 10am on October 4 at Centre’s Norton Center.
