The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet is preparing for the upcoming launch of a new Federal Aviation Education Grant curriculum.

The Education and Labor Cabinet received a $500,000 FAA Aircraft Pilot Workforce Development Grant in March 2023, titled the KY Aviation Experience Requires Opportunity (KY-AERO) grant.

The Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services of the cabinet, working with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) has developed and is working to deliver this curriculum that will educate high school students for careers in the aviation industry, including classroom and work-based learning experiences. Employer and student focus groups were key in designing this Kentucky-specific aviation curriculum.
