Carter Stivers of Eminence Independent Schools won the Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference (SESPTC) scholarship for $2000. His parents are Randall and Leesa Stivers. Carter will be attending Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) with a focus on Wildlife Management. Throughout his education Carter had perfect attendance, never missing a day since kindergarten. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. In additional to these and many other co-curricular activities, he played football and basketball. Carter’s community service clocks in at over 450 hours since his freshman year. Activities included being a mentor in the community problem-based learning class and a student advisory member with the Family Resource and Youth Services Center where he built food pantry boxes that were put out in the community. Congratulations to Carter and his parents for a job well done and good luck at EKU!

The SESPTC makes a one-time scholarship available to one student in each of its 14-member southeastern states each year, including Kentucky. Students must be high school seniors, have a parent or guardian employed in the public school pupil transportation field for at least the past three years and be planning to attend a postsecondary educational institution in the fall.
