The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) hopes to inspire students to discover engineering through the Kentucky Engineering Exposure Network (KEEN).

​KEEN works with educators to bring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) presentations and activities to classrooms from KYTC engineers in their own communities. The engineers discuss the application of math and science in real-world situations, including topics such as bridge building, enviroscapes and how boats float. Designed for K-12 and college students, the presentations are brought to classrooms at no cost.

KEEN coordinators are in each of the KYTC’s 12 district offices. These individuals coordinate with local engineers to deliver the presentations. For more information, visit the KEEN webpage on the KYTC website.

The KEEN Program began in 1991 as a result of efforts by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Task Force on Recruitment and Retention of Transportation Professionals. Since its implementation, KEEN has reached more than 70,000 students.
