The Kentucky Educational Television (KET) newest collection of resources, “Social and Emotional Learning: The Arts for Every Classroom,” is designed to help educators and parents understand emotional development and lead students in art projects that build those skills.
Social and emotional learning (SEL) focuses on teaching students how to manage emotions, collaborate with others and develop empathy. The collection provides SEL arts activities from educators, artists and community arts organizations that can be implemented in classrooms, afterschool programs and at home.
The activities were designed to be accessible to a wide range of students. Background information on adverse childhood experiences also is included, with the goal of helping educators and parents prepare students to be caring, responsible citizens in diverse communities.
Educators can reach out to KET’s education consultants to receive onsite consultations, workshops and trainings.
