AP Coordinators,
This is a reminder that the College Board’s AP program is working to provide all AP students access to learning during this unusual time. The Kentucky Department of Education wants to ensure you have all of the information necessary to help students be provided with equitable access and, thus, feel prepared for their exams.
Professional Development Opportunities
The College Board will be providing webinars, videos and other resources to help AP teachers and coordinators leading up to exam day. Coordinators can register for live training on April 10 to learn more about exams.
Even if you cannot attend the webinar, please register so you will receive a link to the recording.
Confronting the Digital Divide
The College Board recognizes that the digital divide could prevent some low-income and rural students from participating in AP courses and exams. Working with partners, the College Board is investing so these students have the tools and connectivity they need to review AP content online and take the exam.
If your students need mobile tools or connectivity, you can contact the College Board directly by April 24.
Student Learning During the Pandemic
The College Board is providing optional, free online AP classes. Encourage students to join live classes by going to this YouTube Live link.
Make Sure Students are in the Know
Ensure students are aware of the dates/times for AP testing and how to access the exams by sending them to this College Board website.
New Website for AP Teachers from AdvanceKentucky
AdvanceKentucky built a new website to support active program teachers, however all of the resources will be available to any Advanced Placement (AP) mathematics, compute science, English or science teacher in Kentucky.
This site is built to provide traditional program elements in an online format. AdvanceKentucky will train AP teachers on the new exam format for each subject and hold about 40 live, interactive content review sessions for students and teachers. There is an Events tab on the website for further dates.
For more information and support, email the Kentucky Department of Education’s Comprehensive School Counseling Program Coordinator Damien Sweeney.
