(FRANKFORT, KY) – The winners of the ninth annual Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education (KACTE) Entrepreneurship Event have been announced. The event was sponsored by the KACTE and was coordinated by the state advisers of the career and technical education student organizations.

The event challenged high school career and technical education students to develop a plan for an entrepreneurial business. Students were required to submit an online video as well as a one-page executive summary of their business plan. The videos were to be designed to provide information on the business plan to potential investors. Both the videos and the executive summaries were evaluated by a panel of outside judges.

The winning project was submitted by Olivia Moore of Frankfort, who will receive the $1,000 first prize. Her video focused on her business Moore Goodness, in which she sells fresh fruits and vegetables to local consumers. Moore is a member of Western Hills (Franklin County) FFA in Frankfort and her advisers are J. R. Zinner and Jeff Shaffer.

The second place project was submitted by Kennedy Spriggs of Fayette County. Her business, “I’ll Hold Your Horses,” is a horse sitting service for customers in central Kentucky. She will receive the second prize of $750. Spriggs is a member of the Locust Trace FFA, where her adviser is Veronica Bill.

The third place prize of $500 went to Hunter Robinson of Union County, whose video highlights Hunter Films. Robinson’s business produces wedding films, commercials and training videos for local companies. He is a member of the Union County FFA, where his advisers are Jeremy Hill, Emilee Graves and Kelsie Bewley.

The fourth place prize of $250 was awarded to Jason Combs of Spencer County High School. Combs video features his custom fishing lure business known as Big Bites Tackle Company. He is a member of the Spencer County FFA, where his advisers are Darilyn Hamilton, Daniel Dunaway and Bland Baird.
