The media services team from Fayette County Public Schools received the 2018 Award of Merit from the Central Kentucky Association of School Librarians. Led by coordinator Joni Maloney, the group includes media technicians Frankie Langdon, Margaret Roberts, Rachel Sloan and Nancy Ward, and administrative assistant Karen Goocey.
Amanda Hurley, a library media specialist at Henry Clay High School, nominated her Fayette County colleagues for the regional honor.
“This award truly is one for the entire department, as each person plays a vital role. Some catalog books, some track purchase orders and invoices, others assist with poster making, and oh so much more. Without their diligence and expertise, librarians would not be able to serve as true instructional partners,” she said.
Three other district employees also received awards at the April 19 conference:
- Outstanding Librarian of the Year: Felica White of Henry Clay High School;
- Best Website and PD Scholarship: Kelli Reno of Frederick Douglass High School; and
- Service Award for Administrators: Principal Lester Diaz of Douglass.
