(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – Public comment is being sought on the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE’s) application for federal funds under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Children and youth (ages 3-21) receive special education and related services under IDEA, Part B. The application includes assurances and certifications that Kentucky is eligible to receive these federal funds and operates its programs in accordance with the policies and procedures of IDEA. At this time, the U. S. Department of Education has not provided information specific to the amount of funds available to Kentucky as part of this application. However, when that information is made available, KDE will post on the IDEA State Application webpage its plans on how to budget funds under this application that are not set aside for local school districts or for state administration activities.
