Shelly Clark’s visual arts students at Briarwood Elementary School (Warren County) won $1,000 for their school with their entry into the Made by Milk carton construction contest.
The theme of the contest was Sports. Students selected their sport, collected milk cartons and worked collaboratively on the finished project. The Briarwood students collected nearly 850 cartons to create “Run for the Roses,” a large three-dimensional work that depicts the finish line of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The work was finished with hot glue and acrylic paint.
Photos of the finished work may be seen on the Made by Milk web site.
