Cecil Lovett, a janitor at North Calloway Elementary School (Calloway County) is one of 10 finalists for Cintas Corporation’s Janitor of the Year contest, which recognizes the nation’s best school janitors and custodians.
Online voting is underway for the Janitor of the Year award. The winning janitor will receive $5,000, and his school will receive $5,000 in Cintas and Rubbermaid Commercial products and services. The other nine finalists will receive $500 each.
“‘Mr. Cecil’ is a rock star in our opinion,” said Ginger Norsworthy, a secretary at North Calloway Elementary. “He is a mentor, a friend, a grandpa, just everything to our students and staff.”
The finalists were chosen from among more than 1,200 nominations. Almost 500,000 votes were cast in last year’s competition.
Voting continues through April 14. Multiple votes are allowed. The winner will be announced by late April. Click here to vote, and click here to watch a story on Lovett from WPSD-TV in Paducah.
