Lisse Lawson

Lisse Lawson of Rosa Parks Elementary School (Fayette County) has been named the 2017 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Music Educators Association.

Lawson is in her 13th year as general music teacher and chorus director at Rosa Parks. Overall, she has taught 24 years in Fayette, Bourbon and Jessamine counties. In addition to KMEA, Lawson is a member of the Kentucky Orff Schulwerk Association, teaches private piano lessons and serves as the children’s choir coordinator at Calvary Baptist Church.

“I am honored to receive this award and hope that I can continue to guide students as they create and perform music,” Lawson said.
