Angela Stark, the health and physical education teacher for the School for the Creative and Performing Arts at Bluegrass (Fayette County), has received two state-level awards from the Kentucky Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (KAHPERD). She was named Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year and accepted the Distinguished Service Award during its annual conference Nov. 13-15 in Lexington.
Stark, who is in her second year at SCAPA, said her goal is to create physically literate students who are exposed to a variety of healthy activities so they find one they can enjoy for a lifetime.
She graduated from Whitworth University with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a minor in health and special education. Her master’s degree is in health sciences and educational leadership. She has worked in Fayette County schools for 14 years.
