Macy’s is offering $1,000 grants to 100 eligible schools and organizations to support their productions of “Yes, Virginia The Musical.”
The program is open to high school groups and nonprofit community organizations for the first time this year. Interested schools can access a digital tool kit at yesvirginiamusical.com that contains the royalty-free script and score, as well as production reference materials.
“Yes, Virginia The Musical” was introduced by Macy’s in 2012 and was inspired by the true story of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, who wrote a letter to the New York Sun in 1897 to ask about the existence of Santa Claus. The editor responded with an essay that became one of the most famous newspaper editorials of all time.
Grants will be awarded to the first 100 eligible groups that complete the application process. The application deadline is Sept. 18. Click here for more information or to apply.
