The Louisville Writing Project will host a professional development on how to use storytelling to inspire reluctant writers and achieve writing standards July 1-3 at Roosevelt-Perry Elementary School in Louisville.

The workshop will be led by storyteller and teaching artist Randi Skaggs, who competes frequently in story slams – live storytelling competitions in which storytellers have five minutes each to tell their stories – and who will work with teachers to hone their skills in writing and writing instruction and develop slam-style stories and learn a process for helping their students do likewise.

Eighteen hours of professional development credit is available at the workshop, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The registration fee is $100. Email Skaggs for more information.
