Teachers from around the state celebrated their National Board Certification recently at the Capitol as the Class of 2014 was recognized. Certification was earned by 201 Kentucky teachers in 2014. This ranks Kentucky 9th in the nation for total number of National Board Certified Teachers.
Gov. Steve Beshear praised the group.
“As teachers, we entrust the most valuable asset of the Commonwealth with you and that’s the children of Kentucky,” he said.
Floyd County teachers Meghan Slone, Ramona Caldwell and Sonya Slone wait for the ceremony recognizing the Kentucky National Board Certified Teachers Class of 2014 to begin at the Capitol. According to the trio, seven teachers in the district received their National Board Certification this year. They said their Superintendent Henry Webb strongly supports and encourages teachers in the district to earn the certification.
