Burrrrrrrrrr! Snowed piled up in record amounts across the state this week, causing many districts to cancel classes. Students in Fayette county took advantage of the snow days to get outside and have a little fun sledding.

Stonewall Elementary School (Fayette County) has a large hill that is often used for sledding. This week was no exception. Students from Stonewall and other nearby schools including Liberty Elementary, Wellington Elementary, Picadome Elementary and Squires Elementary flocked to the school for a chilly thrill.

They took saucers and inner tubes for a steep, snowy ride.

Shooting sledding is a great assignment. Everyone is having such a good time. It’s funny watching the kids fall off of their sleds, but popping up with a face full of snow and a big smile. It’s an activity both parents and kids can enjoy together.

Students will get more opportunities for sledding as a couple of districts have already called off the remainder of the week.

Please visit the Kentucky Department of Education’s website here for more information about school closings and snow days.
