Students from Fayette County school district, Franklin County school district, Frankfort Independent school district, Jefferson County school district, Covington Independent school district, Newport Independent school district and others held signs for equality as they marched in Frankfort on a chilly, but sunny morning. They were part of the thousands that gathered to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a civil rights march.
The original march, led by Martin Luther King, Jr. and baseball great Jackie Robinson, was a call for civil rights. Teachers and parents brought their students and children to the march to be a part of history and to hear from those who marched 50 years ago.
